Electric car owners said "Good-bye" to the gas pump and now they might say "Good-bye" to the charging station too! Highways England is starting their 18 month test of new technologically advanced roads that can charge cars as they drive.
Wireless sensors placed in electric cars connect to electric cables buried under the road. The roads will generate an electromagnetic field around the car. The British government is planning on investing £500 million in this new technology over the next five years.
This technology seems super futuristic but it is actually not the first of its kind to be implemented. In 2013 a small town in South Korea created a special route so buses could charge in a similar way.
