Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night and remember something really important that maybe you had forgotten before? Well, that would have been a great thing for a German guy to have done sometime in the last 20 years because maybe he would have remembered where he parked his car.
You see, in 1997, he parked his car in a garage and it took 20 years before he learned where his car was. He didn't find it though, he gave up a long time ago. Construction workers at a building that is being torn down found it. It hadn't moved for 20 years, it was in the same spot where he left it.
There is nothing worse than forgetting where you park. Remember the Seinfeld episode when Kramer forgets where he parked and the gang wanders around for hours looking for it? We've all been there. Usually, you wander around for a while, maybe clicking your key fob hoping to set off the car alarm and eventually we all find our cars, right? Not this guy. Eventually, he must have given up looking, because he reported the VW Passat stolen, only it wasn't stolen, he was just forgetful. Or maybe he was just really lazy and only looked around for a few minutes before saying to himself, "Eh. Screw it, I'll just buy another." Or maybe it was his wife's car and she did something to get him angry and he was exacting revenge! Nah, he's probably incredibly forgetful.
Whatever it was, the car was finally found this week in the garage. It turns out, it was in the way of a planned demolition and the workers investigated the owner of the vehicle. It was then that the man learned of his VW's fate. Of course, after 20 years, the engine didn't turn over and the car was towed to the junkyard. Do you think the guy still had the keys? 20 years later? Who loses their car during a quick meeting in an office building but manages to not misplace his keys for 20 freaking years?
We can just hope the garage charged him the full rate for all the hours he was parked there (about 175K hours, give or take).
